Matthew brings over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial development to the LStar team. Prior to joining LStar, Matthew served as Vice President at Hines, an international real estate company, where he oversaw $900 milllion of development in all asset classes for a diverse list of clients including General Motors, Mass Mutual, Prudential, and New World Symphony. WIth Hines, Matt led the New World Symphony Campus Expansion Project in Miami Beach, Florida, managed the development of Madeira on Marco Island, a 101-unit luxury beachfront condominium, and the development of the Marco Island Marriot Spa and Ballroom addition, and lastly, developed a ten-year master plan for the Harvard Business School that included upgrades to the campus infrastructure, information technology, historical property conservation, and the construction of three new buildings. Most recently, Matt served as Vice President and Senior Project Manager at Starwood, where he oversaw all government relations, real estate transactions, and development and asset management activities at the SouthField project. He was responsible for the local development team, including sales and property management. Matt led the initiative to change the existing enabling legislation and successfully obtained the support of the residents, the three host communities, state legislature and governor.
Joe C. McKinney
Executive Director, National Association of Development Organizations (NADO)
Joe McKinney serves as Executive Director of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). Headquartered in Washington, DC, NADO provides advocacy, education, research, and training for the nation's 540 regional planning and development organizations.
Joe has twenty-six years of experience having served in city, county, regional and national association and government management since 1991. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a candidate for a Masters Degree in Public Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director of the National Association of Development Organizations, Mr. McKinney served as Executive Director of Land-of-Sky Regional Council in Asheville, North Carolina from January 2003 until October 2012. Under his leadership, Land-of-Sky became recognized nationally for its innovation and program expansion in areas such as planning and economic development, workforce development, transportation and transit, aging services, volunteer services, and geographic information systems.
