Commuter Rail

Listed below are several organizations, task forces, or committees in which the Old Colony Planning Council is involved.

South Coast Rail Task Force: The proposed South Coast Rail would extend the MBTA's commuter rail to Fall River and New Bedford. One of the proposed extensions would bring the train through the community of Easton, where a station has been proposed. Old Colony Planning Council has participated in the Commuter Rail Task Force.

GATRA Consumer Advisory Committee (GCAC): Organized by the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority, the GCAC meets quarterly to discuss passenger issues.

Traffic Records Coordinating Committee: The TRCC is a committee established by the United States Department of Transportation to "maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of traffic safety data collection and analysis and the resources needed to support it" (source: www.dottrcc.gov).

CMAQ Consultation Committee: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Consultation Committee meets twice a year to determine projects eligible for CMAQ funding, which is provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The CMAQ program is authorized under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).

Massachusetts Association of Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA): MARPA is an organization comprised of the thirteen regional planning agencies of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
