OCPC is a U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) designated Economic Development District (EDD). OCPC has a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee made up of district representatives who oversees the preparation of the OCPC Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. The Council's Economic Development Program is concerned with assisting businesses to remain or expand within the region, attracting new economic development activities which fit the region's resources and labor force, strengthening key resources including activities to improve the region's water, sewer and transportation systems, assisting with site location, and supporting manpower training. To this end, the OCPC Economic Development department provides data and analysis, and participates in regional economic development organizations.
